Maine Initiatives
Maine Initiatives promotes social, economic and environmental justice at the grassroots level. It awards grants to emerging advocacy groups that, because of their social change focus, often receive little support from traditional foundations.

Tom has served on the board of Maine Initiatives and chaired its investment committee since 2004.

First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Portland
Tom is a member of First Parish and chairs Finance Council’s Planned Giving Taskforce and Co-Chair of the 2010 Stewardship Campaign.


Brian’s Interests

The Maine Planned Giving Council
The Maine Planned Giving Council is a statewide, independent, public charity created to encourage charitable giving in Maine through planned strategies, such as bequests, trusts, and gift annuities.

Brian has served as Treasurer of the board of trustees since 2005.

American Lung Association
For over ten years, Brian has participated in the Maine chapter’s major fundraising event: the Trek Across Maine. To sponsor Brian, visit the Trek’s Home Page by clicking here. The mission of Community Financial Literacy is to enhance the lives of refugee and immigrant communities in Maine by teaching them financial literacy skills for a better future.

Institute for Financial Literacy
Through the Maine Teachers Take FLITE™ (Financial Literacy Instructional Techniques for Educators) program, the Institute for Financial Literacy provides teachers with financial knowledge and curriculum ideas to equip K-12 students to make smart financial decisions throughout their lives.

Maine Community Foundation
The Maine Community Foundation is a leading resource for donors seeking to provide long-term charitable support to strengthen Maine communities. Since its founding in 1983, the Foundation has distributed more than $100 million in grants and scholarships and provided leadership for several statewide initiatives.

The Nature Conservancy is a leading international, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the diversity of life on Earth. FPG is an active member of the Maine Chapter’s Corporate Conservation Council.

Pro Mujer
Pro Mujer is a women’s development organization that helps Latin America’s poorest women to build livelihoods for themselves and their families through micro-lending, business training, and healthcare support.

Portland Public Library
The Portland Public Library enriches the Greater Portland community with a diverse collection of books, audiovisual resources, access to information worldwide, and a broad spectrum of programs for all ages.
