Tom's Interests

Maine Estate Planning Council
The Maine Estate Planning Council is an interdisciplinary group of estate planning professionals that meets regularly to enhance their professional skills through education and peer interaction.

Tom served on the board of MEPC from 2006-2015 and was its President in 2012-2013.

First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Portland
Tom served on the Governing Board of First Parish between 2012 and 2015. In 2010, he was Co-Chair of the Annual Stewardship Campaign.

Maine Initiatives
Maine Initiatives promotes social, economic and environmental justice at the grassroots level. It awards grants to emerging advocacy groups that, because of their social change focus, often receive little support from traditional foundations.

Tom served on the board of Maine Initiatives and chaired its investment committee between 2004 and 2010.

Brian's Interests

Genesis Community Loan Fund
Brian is a member of the Board of Directors of the Genesis Community Loan Fund, which provides flexible, below-market financing and expert assistance to affordable housing and community groups across Maine.

American Lung Association
For over 15 years, Brian has participated in the Maine chapter's major fundraising event: the Trek Across Maine. To sponsor Brian, visit the Trek's Home Page by clicking here. The Maine Planned Giving Council
The Maine Planned Giving Council is a statewide, independent, public charity created to encourage charitable giving in Maine through planned strategies, such as bequests, trusts, and gift annuities.

Brian served as Treasurer of the board of trustees from 2005 - 2011.

Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland
The Animal Refuge League (ARLGP) provides temporary care and shelter for stray, abandoned, confiscated and relinquished animals, places them into responsible and caring homes, creates awareness and support for humane treatment of animals, and works to end animal overpopulation through education and the promotion of spaying and neutering.

Coastal Enterprises Inc.
CEI is a nonprofit organization providing financing and support for developing small businesses, natural resource industries, community facilities, and affordable housing in Maine and northern New England.

Community Financial Literacy
The mission of Community Financial Literacy is to enhance the lives of refugee and immigrant communities in Maine by teaching them financial literacy skills for a better future.

Good Shepherd Food-Bank
The mission of Good Shepherd Food-Bank is to provide food for those at risk of hunger by soliciting surplus food and distributing it to non-profit programs throughout Maine.

Institute for Financial Literacy
Through the Maine Teachers Take FLITE (Financial Literacy Instructional Techniques for Educators) program, the Institute for Financial Literacy provides teachers with financial knowledge and curriculum ideas to equip K-12 students to make smart financial decisions throughout their lives.

Keep ME Warm Fund
The Keep ME Warm Fund is a statewide partnership with the goal of helping Maine people stay safe, warm and secure this winter through public and private contributions, volunteerism and advocacy. The Keep ME Warm fund hopes to raise money to help those who may not be eligible for limited federal, state or local fuel assistance programs.

Maine Community Foundation
The Maine Community Foundation is a leading resource for donors seeking to provide long-term charitable support to strengthen Maine communities. Since its founding in 1983, the Foundation has distributed more than $100 million in grants and scholarships and provided leadership for several statewide initiatives.

Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN)
MPBN provides radio and television programming of local and national news, public affairs, and the arts.

Maine Women's Fund
The Maine Women's Fund is a public foundation that transforms the lives of Maine women and girls through strategic grantmaking, community engagement and support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to social change.

NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation
The NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) Consumer Education Foundation (NCEF) is to empowers consumers to achieve positive financial outcomes and to support fee-only financial advisors in providing objective financial guidance to consumers on a pro-bono basis.

Natural Resources Council of Maine
The Natural Resources Council of Maine is a nonprofit organization committed to protecting, restoring, and conserving Maine's environment.

The Nature Conservancy, Maine Chapter
The Nature Conservancy is a leading international, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the diversity of life on Earth. PFPG is a member of the Maine Chapter's Corporate Conservation Council.

Portland Public Library
The Portland Public Library enriches the Greater Portland community with a diverse collection of books, audiovisual resources, access to information worldwide, and a broad spectrum of programs for all ages.

Preble Street
Preble Street's mission is to provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems.

Pro Mujer
Pro Mujer is a women's development organization that helps Latin America's poorest women to build livelihoods for themselves and their families through micro-lending, business training, and healthcare support.
